home from home that you don't want to leave

We stayed here for four nights in January with our two kids. One had been ill and as soon as we were met at the station by Karen I knew we would all be ok. We were so cared for and looked after it was amazing. The food - best of our 3 week trip and so good to eat and chat with the other guests too. We stayed in the villa which is perfect for a family. The house is a very special place with superb style and character. Dont be put off by it being outside Galle, is a fun short tuk tuk in and you look forward to returning back from the town every time. Don't hesitate to book this place if you are heading that way!!

When you visit Galle, stay here!
On only a 15-20 minutes tuktuk drive from Galle-Fort this villa lies hidden in the jungle. The staff was superb, the surroundings amazing and you never want to go out of the infinity-pool with jungle-lookout ever again. Our room was spacious with a great washingroom connected to it. The bed was lovely, breakfast and dinner were great and the sound of all the animals living around, made the finishing touch: 100 points for Templeberg. Highly recommended!

Excellent place close to Galle

We stayed here only 1 night at the end of our Sri Lankan round trip but wished that we could have stayed longer. The villa is really charming and all areas and rooms are stylishly and tastefully decorated. The food was really good, and the new pool was as beautiful as it was popular with our children. The staff was great and did all it could for us to have a memorable stay. The owner, Karen, was an exceptionally good host. The villa is a 10-15 minutes tuck-tuck drive from Galle fort. Highly recommendable.

Room Tip: The bungalow is a good option if travelling with children

Peace and tranquility

- nothing is too much trouble and everything is done with a smile
- excellent! The room was very big and had sofas and a chez langue for extra relation
- we are at the one hotel once and it excellent and represented very good value for money
- a little out of town, but this was good in that you can go into Galle and other areas and retreat to Templeberg

We just loved this place!
My family occupied the bungalow at the rear of the villa.
A beautiful place, the decoration is fabulous, we loved the cool contemporary colours teamed with the historic colonial villa.
Dining here in the evning is not to be missed. They put on an amazing jungle light show for guests.
The location, perfect. 10 minutes to the attractions of Galle, 10 minutes to Unawatuna beach, yet surrounded by wildlife, trees, immaculate gardens.
A chance to view endangered purple facd leaf monkeys.
And that pool is wonderful!
Meeting our co-guests over dinner was great too.

A little slice of heaven!

A charming, characterful period property set in beautiful grounds, and only a short tuk tuk ride into Galle. Also has an excellent swimming pool, and the staff could not be more attentive and accommodating - nothing was too much trouble. Excellent home cooked meals provided on site. If like good quality, a more personal touch and to retreat from the hustle and bustle, this is as good as it gets!

Perfect retreat

We spent two beautiful nights here in the bungalow at Templeberg Villa. From the moment we arrived we were constantly looked after. Welcome drinks while we were shown to our rooms. The property was spacious so even when full, all guests had their own space. The huge 30m pool was a huge hit with our kids. We enjoyed the two dinners and breakfasts we had there. Tuk tuks were on hand if you needed to go into Galle, only a few minutes away. This is a must if you're looking for a great villa retreat away from all the hussle and bussle of the tourist areas bit still only 10 minutes away from either the beach or city by Tuk tuk.

A very peaceful and relaxing villa!

Stayed there for 2 nights and really loved the place. The staff members were very pleasant and friendly! They served us well with delicious meals and really loved the Sri Lankan lunch! And not forgetting the strong finest coffee! The beautiful villa has a homely atmosphere. The newly constructed vast pool adds a great value to the villa! Thank you so much for the lovely experience and I would recommend it for anybody who is looking for a calm, peaceful stay!

Good property with poor access
MangalaH [TA], , Colombo, Sri Lanka

Great property with lots of garden space, trees and a quaint bungalow. Newly built pool is a great addition. Extremely convenient location from both the highway and to Galle town. Pleasant and accommodating local staff that strived to make the stay a pleasant one. The rooms were arranged as per our preferences and the communication from the time the reservation was made was very efficient.

The internal access road to the property is in poor shape and is more suited for a high clearance vehicle. Dining options are limited and over priced and so anyone staying at the villa should explore dining options in the Galle fort area. Toilet in the two bedroom villa needs refurbishment. The property should also invest in mosquito screens on the windows.

The major drawback that we found is that it appears that the lady running the villa prefers their guests to be non-Sri Lankan. It might be her level of comfort or the ease of servicing, but there was greater caring on her part for non Sri Lankan visitors. Even the breakfast items are European and she chafed when we requested more Sri Lankan based food preferences. She appears to gets easily frazzled when the villa is full and she has to deal with different needs of the guests.

Room Tip: Two bedroom villa shares a common bathroom

Relaxing Place In Galle
jonhilder [TA], , Brisbane, Australia

Templeberg Villa provided our party of eight with a relaxing place to base our trips to Galle. We stayed for three nights.
The beautifully restored vast villa is very stylish with plenty of room for us all. After we had spent the whole day driving by mini bus from Nuwara Eliya on the first night of our stay Karin's staff prepared a delicious rice and curry for us. Galle Fort is a short drive away by tuk tuk. We explored the Fort during the day then headed back to Templeberg for a swim to cool off. The proximity of Templeberg to Galle allowed us to retun to Galle in the evenings when we wanted to. What impressed me most was the friendly way Karin and her staff attended to all our needs.
