The hotel is closed near to the village with atmosphere, giving opportunity to reach numerous local boutiques, lagoons, village, temple local farm and lands.

Each room is equipped with a private balcony with panoramic view which facing to the see with an endless ocean view.

You are not getting what you pay for - AVOID!!!!

Paid 250 U.S. Dollar for 3 days (28-31 March) and was expecting a nice 3 star hotel (even got 4 on Tripadvisor). All my expectations was in vain as we (me and my boyfriend, 38 and 48 yeas old) entered our room on the top floor. The room had a very bad smell from the bathroom, ants running around on the floor and on the furnitures, the sheets were of very poor quality (not hotel standard) and even had stains and holes, room was badly cleaned and dusty (and was not cleaned once during our 3 days stay) cigarette fimps on the floor of the balcony, an AC that worked but without possibility to choose degree your self, furnitures very run down. Found a cockroach in the bathroom the first night but that didn't bother me as much as the disco music from a next door bar, playing until late in the night....not even ear plugs helped. Day 2 we went up to the pool on the roof and that could have been my last day in life.... All pool area is run down, different kind of sunbeds and torn sun umbrellas, broken tiles around the pool etc, but worst of all: tree fence so rotten it went apart and this was what happened to me because I did not see this at first. I went to the fence to take a picture of the sea view. Leaned slightly against the fence which then loosened from the concrete where it was attached. I managed to stumble backwards avoiding falling down the 3 meters to the balcony below, taking the same way as some parts of the fence. Luckily no one was at the balcony below at that time. A security guard came and he was not surprised at all nor did he ask how we were or apologised what has happened. He fetched two other guys and the only thing they did was to put one of the old sunbeds in front of the now broken fence. Then they just left. 24 hours later no one had done anything a about the broken fence (luckily no kids were at the hotel as far as we could see) so we talked to the reception and asked why they had not fixed the broken an life dangerous fence. The receptionist was surprised. She did not know of the broken fence!! Next time we checked, the fence had finally been provisionally mended! Thus after anxiously checking every fence at the hotel we found several more that were rotten. We also complained several times about the ants - especially the many ants in the sink in the bathroom but there was nothing done by the hotel staff. The same with the bad smell in the bathroom. For the price you pay at this hotel you could wish for a lot more and especially when you could have been seriously injured, one could have wished for some excuse or compensation. Instead, when we check out, the receptionist gives us a bill for the two small water bottles (50 ml each) we ordered to the room the first night (there is of course no refrigerator in the room): 280 Rupees for 2 bottles that in restaurants not cost more than maximum 100 rupees each.....and that many other hotels (even the cheaper ones) have free of charge. Nothing to bother about if everything else would have been in order.
And one more thing: if you feel that this hotel could be a nice adventure for you (yes, it is to be understood as a joke), at least do not book any trips or excursion through the hotel reception. We asked how much a whale watching trip would cost and got the price 6000 rupees per person whit a company not listed on Tripadvisor. (Whale watching Company listed as no 2 in Tripadvisor charge 4000 rupees per person - just for comparison). We called the company our selves when we go to our room and then got the price 2500 rupees per person! I understand that the hotel needs to take some extra charge for being a middle hand, but 240% is just way too much for the exact same thing!
Please be aware: reception area as well as breakfast/restaurant area is nice and the hotel serves a nice breakfast. Never had dinner there so I can not utter about that. But my best suggestion to all you travellers thinking about staying at this hotel: think again! Would not go back there even if it was for free.

We loved the rustic Beach Bar with free beach beds. The room was ok with a balcony which had a bit of a roof which meant we could sit outside when it rained but not get wet. There was a huge towel rail (the best facility ever) in the room which meant we could dry all our swimming gear without draping it on the balcony. Food was ok, especially the honey. However, there was constant water on the bathroom floor near the toilet (hopefully clean) and the shower head support was broken. It didn't stop you from showering but it meant you had to hold it over your head. We informed the management who more or less said we'll fix it when you've left. So check Room 103 before you book!

Room Tip: All rooms face the sea. Higher rooms have better views but you have to climb the stairs.

Not too bad, but also not good

We stayed for three days in Mirissa in this hotel. The location is good with a nice view from your balcony, but with many sea-side guesthouses it doesn't offer that special beach-feeling. More importantly: the lack of an elevator can become a burden.

We were located on the top floor (only the pool floor above us) and this means walking 7 floors of stairs EVERY time you go to your room. Being on a holiday we noticed that you start planning your days to avoid going up and down too many times, but I don't want to schedule my holiday like that...

Furthermore, the rooms were basic; no safe box, TV kept breaking down, aircon was struggling with the temperature and with the pool system located across the hallway we noticed a low humming sounds throughout the night.

This wasn't a horrible stay, but I will encourage you to look around for other places that can offer a bit more. We went here because others were full.

Were staying at this hotel silanmo for several days. it's amazing place with very professional and polite personal. I think it's the best place in Mirissa to stay.just relax by the pool and at the beach. For this the place is perfect! As the season was started but the beach was like empty and the resort very quiet. Lovely restaurant on the beach with great food and atmosphere in the evening.Great breakfast and waitstaff at their 2 restaurants.Recommend to everybody to come and see this beauty, listen to the ocean and spend great time.

I wanted so much to love this hotel. The staff is friendly and helpful, the location opposite the beach is unbeatable, and the ocean views are fantastic. However, there were some shortcomings. There were no toiletries in the room save for a small bar of soap - no shampoo. There was also an unpleasant smell emanating from the drain in the shower, which hit me as soon as I opened the shower doors. Dinner was good but there were limited options.

As other reviewers have mentioned, you need to be aware that the hotel has several floors and there is no elevator. You will have to climb a few flights (at a minimum) to get to your room. This was not much of an issue for me, but there is no way I'd recommend this hotel to older friends or family members.

The hotel reception staff are welcoming and helpful, rooms are spacious clean and comfortable, good comfortable beds. However, be warned, there is no lift and the stairs can be a real problem in the heat of the day if you're not quite fit and very difficult if you have mobility issues. The pool is on the roof and although it's quite a nice pool, the number of sun beds is inadequate and there were only two umbrellas when we were there and no drinks bar or service.
Also, we put some laundry in which I didn't check when it was returned, when we went to use some of the clothes, they were marked and dirty and a pale yellow t-shirt that I put in the laundry was grey .
The reception closes at 10:30 pm apparently, we were told that if we got back late the key would be left with the gate keeper .... We arrived back at about 11pm and the gatekeeper didn't have the key, he eventually managed to wake up an employee who was able to unlock the reception to retrieve our room key so our tip- don't hand in the key in the evening when you go out!
Restaurant food was pretty good.

Well located hotel overseeing the Indian Ocean. The room was spacious, well ventilated, neat and clean. The staff and management representatives were very friendly and helpful. The food was good. Though the hotel was not right on the beach yet all the the rooms had full view of the Ocean. The only drawback of the hotel was that there was no elevators and the stairs were steep. This created problem to the aged people like us to climb 3rd or 4th floor.

Room Tip: All rooms are having full view of the Indian Ocean.

Directly opposite the beach, Silan Mo was perfect for our one night's stay in Mirissa. Facilities are pretty standard -the bed was comfortable, the fan and the A/C worked and the bathroom iwas clean. I would not recommend for more than one or two nights as it is a place to rest your head only.

I have a number of problems with Silan Mo. Let me state them as objectively as possible.
1. We booked a room for 3 via Agoda for 100 USD a night, so we naturally expected decent comfort. While the double bed was all right, the additional single bed was rickety with flimsy planks of wood as the base. Worse, the bed only had a 2-inch sponge mattress instead of the 5 to 8-inch foam/coir ones usually deployed. For the first night, after many complaints, they put another sponge mattress. This still wasn't comfortable. The staff also refused to pass on the hotel manager's number, who was conveniently "out of town". They told us plainly that we could cancel our stay if we wished. However, since the Agoda booking was non-refundable, this was obviously not an option. They did change the single bed on the second day of our 2-day stay though.
2. We did not realise that the hotel does not have an elevator. We were on the sixth floor and this meant walking up several flights each time. This can be a serious problem for older people as the hotel has 7 floors with a rooftop pool on the 8th floor.
3. Wi-Fi never worked in the room even though signal strength showed up as 3 out of 4 bars. This meant walking down 6 floors to the reception to use wi-fi.
4. The bathroom (in room no. 113, on the 6th floor) stank of sewage 24x7. It emanated from the drain so quite possibly the management couldn't do anything about it. We had already complained to the management about the single bed and wi-fi so we decided to suck it up and not complain about the bathroom.
5. AC didn't function correctly. It cooled fine, but the vent directly faced the bed and couldn't be adjusted by the remote control. We awoke at 3am feeling quite cold only to realise that the room didn't have any blankets. Of course, this was sorted out the next day.

Overall, I wasn't happy with my stay at Silan Mo. The location is great, as is the view from the rooms, but this hotel is not value for money. 100 USD is quite a bit of money and I expected high standards for this price. Neither would I suggest this accommodation to anyone nor do I plan to revisit Silan Mo again.
