Sri Villas is one of the few privately owned properties on the southwest coast of Sri Lanka that can truly be called beachfront with its undisturbed panoramic views of the Indian Ocean. Sitting at the end of a beautiful, rarely visited beach that stretches for half a kilometre, the garden at Sri Villas seamlessly blends into the golden sand.

Ten minutes south of Bentota Beach, and five before Kosgoda Beach, is the charming town of Induruwa – home to Sri Villas. The Villas are just 69km away from Colombo. Unlike many of the busier coastal towns, Induruwa enjoys a very peaceful and traditional existence.

Galle is just 45 minutes to one hour away by car.

While the villas are equipped to cater to the expectations of modern living, much of the design is based on traditional Sri Lankan homes. High vaulted ceilings, tall louvered doors and windows shading large open spaces provide wonderful ventilation and allow the cooling ocean breeze to permeate the property.

Sri Villas is the last word in elegant beachfront living.

One of the great pleasures, at any time of day or night, is plunging into the pool at Sri Villas. At 30 metres long, it's perfect for laps - as well as just hanging out and having fun. When the sea is too rough, it's also a haven for the children (the middle section is a shallow paddling pool ideal for the younger ones). The underwater lights stay on until the last guest disappears to bed.

Sagara Villa, which stands on the right of the property as you look out to sea, has three bedrooms (all master suites, kingsize beds, each with en suite bathrooms) private dining, living and kitchen areas. Two of the suites are on the second floor (with air-conditioning) and one on the ground floor, with natural breezes and a ceiling fan (plus its own outdoor shower). All the bedrooms have their own balcony or verandah providing breathtaking views of the Indian Ocean. In front of the villa is the garden which leads directly to the beach.

Nisala Villa This villa is set in the middle overlooking the swimming pool. It has two wonderful master suites on the second floor each with kingsize beds and en suite bathrooms, a very large private dining and living area, an open plan modern kitchen with bar and a vaulted ceiling that reaches all the way to the roof. Each master suite is air-conditioned and has a large private balcony with beautiful views of the Indian Ocean.

This is the perfect villa for entertaining and sleeps 4.

Sitting on the left of the property as you look out to sea, Araliya Villa has four air-conditioned bedrooms: two master suites with en suite bathrooms on the second floor, and a junior suite with en suite bathroom and a twin bedroom on the ground floor. Like the other villas, Araliya has generous dining and living spaces plus a wonderful, part open-plan kitchen with a bar. There are two private balconies upstairs and a large verandah downstairs. The villa enjoys excellent views of the garden and ocean.

Sri Villas has its owned exceptionally well-trained, friendly English-speaking staff in residence (some with overseas work experience), so that guests may completely relax and feel at home. Our philosophy is that our guests are warmly and attentatively looked after, while not feeling any intrusion by the service. As you can see from our guest comments, it seems to be much appreciated.

We also have a delightful resident chef and our wonderful housekeeper/manager who will look after your every need during your stay at Sri Villas.

Dining is one of the highlights of any stay at Sri Villas. Our friendly and experienced chef will ask about your daily meal requirements. You may either pay for the ingredients, which will be purchased on your behalf at the local market, or choose the ‘full board’ option of a 3 set meals a day.

Enjoy wonderful traditional Sri Lankan curries, fresh seafood caught and prepared on the same day and a healthy variety of Asian and European dishes. On request, a table may be set up outside the villa living space and even on the beach for you to have an intimate, private dinner. Chef will also surprise you with afternoon cakes and tea!

Stunning beach
reynoada [TA], , Singapore, Singapore

Absolutely beautiful location and a great set up for big families to holiday together. We do a lot of great holidays and our 10 days here was amongst the best ever. Held a 50th birthday party in the grounds for 60 friends and family and the catering and set up was first class.

Treasure by the sea.

Where to start? We were three of around twenty friends who booked the entire villa complex. I wouldn't want my use of the word "complex" to give the wrong impression: Sri Villas feels like a lovely, rambling private home, not at all like a hotel. It does, however, offer all the bits and bobs that make a holiday everything one could wish for. The three villas sit loosely clustered around a beautiful pool which borders the garden which, in turn, reaches right to the beach, a postcard crescent of golden sand. The staff is fantastic, nothing's too much trouble. The rooms are light and breezy and not at all cramped or cluttered. Upstairs rooms have gorgeous sea views, a real treat with a gin and tonic in hand. Or two. There's no shortage of neighbourhood bars and restaurants, but there's no need to venture out if you feel like staying in: the Sri Villas kitchen puts on delicious Sri Lankan food, anything you like from pleasantly spiced to eye-wateringly hot. Anyway, enough of my yacking, it's a great place to stay. Highly recommended. Superb. Oh, one last thing: the beaches of Induruwa face almost due west, so the sunsets are absolutely stunning.

The highlight of our holiday!

We stayed here with our two young children in February and it was such a beautiful setting and perfect end to a magical two weeks in Sri Lanka. The staff are so welcoming and generous. The pool is divine, perfect for cooling off, doing laps or just simply watching the sun go down. The beds and rooms are complete luxury and the beach is beautiful, we had lovely romantic walks and adventures in the dark watching a turtle lay eggs. The food is probably the most delicious food I ate in Sri Lanka, beautiful, traditional cuisine and also western food available for the children. Highly recommend for couples, friends, families, looking for some serious rest & relaxation.

Room Tip: Explain what you need and the hosts will be able to recommend the best room.

Amazing! Amazing! Amazing!

We were a large group of friends with children of various ages occupying all three villas. The properties share a stunning beachfront setting. It was idyllic to sit on the terrace listening to the waves and watching the sun go down behind the palm trees. The pool and grounds are perfect to be enjoyed by all age groups and the villas are light, airy and stylish with all you could possibly need for a comfortable stay. The staff are a friendly team who make everything run smoothly without being obtrusive and Samantha can cater brilliantly for both local and international tastes.
We had an unforgettable holiday and I would definitely recommend Sri Villas, just don't forget to leave the gates to explore this amazing country!!

Personal Paradise

We have visited these villas several times over the years and it just keeps getting better. The staff are so welcoming, and always willing to help with a big smile on their face. We have always travelled with children with ages ranging from 16 thru newborn. The kids always have something to do whether its a play in the pool, cricket in the grass, rugby on the very private beach, marshmallow bonfires on the beach or chasing crabs into the sea. The staff has woken us up on a few occasions to be able to watch the hatching turtles make their way back to sea in the night.
The chef, Samantha, is amazing. I have yet to have a meal that I have been disappointed in, my favourite lunch time soup is his Gazpacho! The meal service is fantastic from table setting to service.
The tourist towns of Bentota/Aluthgama is a short drive away and you can find most anything you need there. There are also a few watersports places on the river in town that the kids always enjoy.
Galle is also a great day trip from the villas, the fort is a tourist necessity if you are on the southwest coast.
The rooms are beautiful, clean and breezy during the day with reliable air conditioning and fans for the warmer nights. Lots of storage room and a safe if you need it.
It really is a place that you would settle in and stay forever!

Happy place!

Amazing week at Sri Villas. The staff at the villa were fantastic and made our stay with their warm hospitality and excellent service. The location is so idyllic and the perfect contrast to busy Hong Kong. Highly recommend for friends and families.

Amazing holiday!

The service is like lifestyles of the rich and famous. The villa was beautifully decorated and very welcoming. Everything you could want was there. The seaside ambiance, the sound of the surf, long beach walks, the private pool. I can hardly wait until we return as it was the best holiday I have ever experienced.

- - - Sri Villas - - -
Sri Villas is located in Induruwa just before the 69 km post on the west-coastal road from Colombo to Galle in Sri Lanka. It is beachfront property facing the Indian Ocean. Overall, Sri Villas is cheerfully classical-tropical in design with a reassuring homely feeling. The views of the sea, sky and sunset are quite stunning and very photogenic. I can go on & on about its beauty but you really have to see it for yourself.
Sri Villas is actually 3 separate villas placed around the generous central swimming pool. The villas are called Araliya, Nisala and Sagara containing 3 suites + 1 room, 2 suites and 3 suites respectively. Each villa has its own lounge, dining, and outdoor seating area as well as their own utility areas for cutlery, washing-up & refrigerators. Each are complete homes.
Every suite has king-size bed with mosquito-netting, air-conditioning, ceiling-fan and electronic safe. The bathrooms are large “designer minimalist” in style.
Each villa also has its own “house-boy” who acts as butler, waiter and steward. The shared staff for the 3 villas are the chef, security and the resort manager.
The chef will take your orders for meals in advance everyday. He only charges for the raw food cost. You may request for lobsters or whatever. Just ask! Just be aware that imported items are expensive while local items are cheap. Bring your own cereal! Local fruits freshly squeezed like oranges, pineapple & passionfruit are really good. Bring vodka!
For breakfast, you can have fresh fruit & juice, eggs & toast, pancakes, maybe with banana. Local coffee is soothingly aromatic but not strong so consider bringing/ buying something stronger.
For lunch and dinner, local favourites include carbohydrates called stringhoppers and appa (appam). If you do not specify chilli strength, the chef will give you mild curries. Sri Lankan meals comprise mostly vegetarian dishes with perhaps 5-6 curries/ sauces and maybe only one dish being fish or chicken. Some of the hearty dishes are likely to be fruit or vegetable. Guilt-free diet.
- - - Beach - - -
The beach immediately in front of Sri Villas is fairly secluded with no crowds and no commercial activities. Except for the odd angler fishing off the distant rocks, it is basically your private beach. The sea can be rough with some undercurrent so do not venture to swim any deeper than you can stand up. It's okay to play in the shallow areas but just be aware of the currents.
To the north (right) is an unobtrusive pathway to the next beach called Venus beach. In the middle of Venus beach is a large visible long rectangular rock formation which acts as a safe rockpool area for wading.
- - - About Sri Lanka - - -
Sri Lanka is paradise left behind in the 60's. There are two sets of prices: For locals and for tourists. Mostly evident is the cost of accommodation and transport. Mind you, the local version of accommodation and transport is not really up to tourist expectation hence the price difference. For short distances, it's okay to take tuk-tuk.
The best-buys in Sri Lanka are gemstones, batik and tea. As it happens, sapphires (of all colours) plus other semi-precious stones including tourmaline, chrysoberyl, alamandine & moonstone are mined in-land just east of Induruwa. Most sought after are white-sapphires because of their close approximation to diamonds.
- - - Nearby - - -
Of interest, to the south, are several turtle conservatories, plus Ambalangoda town with its nearby moonstone mine. To the north is Paradise Road's “Villa Bentota” designed by Geoffrey Bawa, a must-see for design enthusiasts. A little further north is Aluthgama town which costs LKR800 return by tuk-tuk. Very likely, the tuk-tuk driver will gravitate you to a tourist shop called Ayesha. Despite its “tourist-shop” status, Ayesha actually has good stuff at reasonable prices. Originally a gem shop, Ayesha added souvenirs and food to garner more tourist revenue.
- - - Day Trips - - -
The villa can arrange for a driver & van for a day trip to Galle. For us, a van costs LKR 8,000 for a day trip. For tourists, visiting the Galle Fort is probably the most interesting. For shops, look for Paradise Road and Mansion House. For meals, look for Galle Fort Hotel and Amangalle. Perhaps they're a little pricey but they have quality stuff.
- - - Getting to Sri Villas- - -
I booked online and opted to pay later. I selected a van which costs LKR 11,923 and I specified using Katunayake Expressway and Southern Expressway which costs additional LKR 1,000. From Bandaranaike Intl Airport (BIA) to Sri Villas is 125km and took just over 2 hours. The route is BIA – Katunayake Expressway exit – Southern Expressway entry – Bentota Exit – Sri Villas and the timing being about 30mins, 20mins, 55mins, 25mins respectively. Bring some water!

absolutely perfect

well where to start, we chose sri villas as our holiday and wedding destination. we were a group of 16 all arriving at different times and dates throughout the week.
The villas are stunning and everyone was impressed with their rooms.
The beach and pool and setting are idyllic and pictures just do not do the place any justice.
All of the staff are absolutely amazing and they make the whole experience, nothing is too much trouble and they are never intrusive in the slightest like some hotel staff can be. For us it was better than any hotel service out there, and me and my husband have stayed in alot, believe me !!
we cannot thank all of you guys enough for making our wedding so special and run so smoothly. your smiles light up everybody's day.
We had some of the most scrumptious and tasty food prepared by the chef Samantha, always surprising us with new dishes.
And the staff added gorgeous personal touches at the dinner table decorations.
i know the rooms are availabe to rent individually however i would definatley recommend for a group getaway. prices for the food are so reasonable! the location is also perfect for a more peaceful and relaxing time, if you want bars and more restaurants bentota is literally 15 mins away in a tuk tuk.
from the bottom of our hearts thank you sri villas, we will be back soon

Wonderful villas, exceptional staff team!
Josy T [TA], , Harrogate, United Kingdom

What a special place - Sri Villas has it all: beautiful accommodation, stunning location and the most attentive team to look after us. We were a group of 18, celebrating 5 big birthdays (we were at school together!), with children and young adults and nothing was too much bother for the Sri team. Samanda the cook is amazing, we all wanted to take him home with us. Despite our concerns about how the food is paid for, at the end of the week it was not at all unreasonable, and was top restaurant quality. We had a Sri Lankan banquet, a beach side barbecue, we played cricket, pool volleyball, table tennis, borrowed bicycles and went jet-skiing on the Bentota river. The only sad part was that the sea was too rough to swim, but it was spectacular to sit and watch the waves, especially at sunset. Top marks to this place, it would be ideal for a very special wedding and it made a superb place to celebrate our Birthdays. Thank you for such a special week.
