Kadolana Eco Village lies at the edge of Madu River in Anda Dola village, Balapitiya, located between Ahungalle and Hikkaduwa, within an hour’s drive from Colombo via Southern expressway and only less than a kilometer to the Balapitiya Beach. This makes Kadolana the perfect base from which to discover the Galle Fort, Sandy Beaches, Fishing Villages, Traditional Mask Carvings, Cinnamon plantations, Cinnamon processing and experience the famous Madu River boat safari.

Kadolana Eco Village is a unique hotel of just 8 private dwellings in a wooded area facing the Madu River. This is an eco friendly dream hideaway for all of the comforts you could wish for in absolute privacy surrounded by the simple woods of nature. The perfect serenity of Kadolana Eco Village will let you create a world of your own.

Waking up in the dawn to the sounds of myriad different bird calls in the soft luxury of your bed, a splendid view of lush jungle surroundings and Madu River is a refreshing experience that will awaken your mind. At Kadolana Eco Village you can observe the surrounding vegetation and absorb its tranquility, all the while remaining cocooned within the comfort of you private villa.

At Kadolana you can unwind and find a sense of peace. Perhaps you will end up doing nothing, but considering the fanatic pace of today’s world, doing nothing at all is possibly the greatest gift one could have.

Committed to conducting business in harmony with nature, Kadolana uses Solar power to generate hot water and partial lighting. A small vegetable garden provides fresh produce grown organically to supply the kitchen. Additional supplies are bought from the village ensuring the community benefits from us.

Kadolana Eco Village is a beautifully landscaped Eco friendly hotel which consists of separate luxury villas and eco friendly cottages with an infinity pool overlooking the Madu River.

Eight luxurious eco friendly villas in perfect serenity offer you complete relaxation from the stresses of urban life.

Only a few acres of shrubbery was cleared to build Kadolana, which offers you luxury accommodation in our air conditioned villas as well as eco villas where natural material such as clay bricks, wood and thatched coconut leaves have been used to build. The areas of grass around them allow unobstructed views of the sylvan surroundings. The open verandahs invite the cooling afternoon breeze. The villas are designed for double or triple occupancy. The private bathrooms are open to the sky, providing yet more opportunity for guests to be one with nature.

Deluxe Villas:

Animals in the room, leaking and a drunk manager
Jonny M [TA], , London, United Kingdom

We checked in to Kadolana Eco last evening with a booking for 2 doubles and 2 triple rooms. The disappointment was instant,

- The two double rooms were no more than a shoe box with a nice veranda in the middle that also doubled up as the Managers Office!

- One Double Room did not have an attached toilet - it was outside, across the veranda. We ignored it as part of the "eco" experience.

- When the folks in the double room asked for an additional towel for their son, the Manager very rudely responded with a "Double Rooms get only two towels" - oops, we should have brought our own towels.

- When it started raining, the two "eco rooms" with coconut leaf roofing started to leak with rain drops wetting the mattresses - an eco experience more than we had expected!

- The last straw was the discovery of a "Sri Lankan Palm Civet'' (Kalawadda in Sinhala) inside the 'eco rooms', hissing and snarling at us! The staff were lost as to what to do -at 10.30pm we were now trapped in a leaking eco rooms in the company of a wild cat!

At this point, with crying kids and anxious wives, we all decided to leave the hotel. It was then that we were confronted with Tissa, the obnoxious manager who was clearly intoxicated after an evening drink - he went on to suggest we pay the full half board rate for all 4 rooms with scant appreciation of why we were leaving his hotel at 10.45pm. After some hard negotiation we paid for 2 rooms and dinner and drove out into the the night - a disaster of a holiday.

Room Tip: Avoid the eco rooms - no AC, leaking roof and resident Civet Cat!

Perfect relaxation at this Amazing location

Visited here with friends for the second time and I must say Kadolana never fails to amaze me with its unique setting and excellent hospitality. Perfectly located with a refreshing river view we chose to stay in one of the Airconditioned Eco rooms. This was luxury and Eco friendly design perfectly put together with a nice river view to each room.
Service was top notch with personal attention and place was kept very clean. Theyv got a range of really tasty food which we enjoyed in the nice open air restaurant and they are nice enough to accommodate any cravings you have for specific Sri Lankan food with enough notice (one of us had a deep craving for a spicy polos curry and this was satisfied in a wham)
The pier by the river is just amazing place to sit in the evening. They are also in the process of making floating wooden decks/ferries. So can't wait to go back to try these!

Thank you Kadolana! Will be back for more memories

Amazing Eco Experience, Yummy Food and 5-Star Service !
_mahesh9s... [TA], , Kotte, Sri Lanka

Visited with family last week and wow this amazing setting was truly mind blowing. The location absolutely takes your breath away and the good things doesnt stop there. We stayed in one of the Eco rooms and it was a really different and nice experience. Quite yummy healthy food in Sri Lankan style, although they have offer other options as well we decided to stick with their specialty, Sri Lankan food. Manager and staff were very friendly and homely and provided five star attention to us. Early morning and late evenings are the best time to take a walk through the garden as you can watch a lot of birds and the nice environment.
We took the boat ride they organize as well, where we could get on board from the hotel border itself. A nice experience through the islands of the Madu River and they arranged a great chap to explain us through it! All in all great place for a relaxed holiday.
Waiting to go back again!

Room Tip: Eco Rooms are a great expirience not to miss, they do have luxury type AC rooms for those who do not...

Overall Avarage Stay
ayodhyam [TA], , Moratuwa, Sri Lanka

The atmosphere was pleasing. We were in the separate bungalow with friends. The foods was not tasty all three meals we had. 05 rooms had only two washrooms to share and it was a bit awkward. The Rooms were full of mosquitoes, even though the hotel gave mosquito repellents and vaporizers.

Room Tip: Best to avoid the old bungalow.
