Excellent Stay!
Collette... [TA], , Sydney Olympic Park, Australia

I stayed here with 7 others during Christmas and New Year 2014 - 2015. We had 3 of the top level rooms and 1 of the lower level rooms and all the rooms were beautiful! They are basic, but clean and tidy and have all the amenities that you need while on holiday! The top rooms have a gorgeous balcony with views straight out over the ocean and the bottom rooms are pretty much right on the beach! The real highlights are the location and the staff! The location is absolutely stunning, right on the beachfront at the end of Unawatuna beach and so away from all the noise and music of the main beach. Each night and morning you fall asleep and wake up to the sound of the waves which is so pleasant! The staff here are always smiling and can never do enough for you to ensure that your stay here is as perfect as it possibly can be! Amen, the owner is absolutely fantastic and helped us out with planning our trip even when we had checked out! The restaurant serves great food and with a beachfront location it is a perfect dinner spot. I was recommended to stay here by a friend and I can not recommend our stay here high enough!

Room Tip: The top rooms are cheaper, but alot smaller than the bottom rooms. I stayed in the top room (number...

Calm and pleasant stay, beautiful location

Me, my husband and our two boys, aged 8 and 10, stayed at Sun N Sea for 7 nights during Christmas Holiday. We stayed in the family room on the second floor; a rather spacious room, wonderful view of the sea and a private balcony. One double bed and two single beds, both with mosquito-net. The bathroom is a bit rundown and warmwater was not always available. The little beach directly adjacent to the guesthouse is perfect for a morning/afternoon dip, with a lot of waves. Unawatuna main beach is a 10-15 min walk away. The restaurant serves good food, although rather long waiting time at busy hours of the day. Staff is friendly and the overall atmosphere is relaxed. We would love to come back some time.

Excellent Food

My husband and I came here for dinner twice whilst staying in Sri Lanka. The pizzas are amazing! The service is really great and the restaurant has a view all the way down Unawatuna beach to the temple on the headland. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.

The place is located at the corner of where the beach begins. It has a great view of the entire sea coast.
The food is great and the staff is ever friendly and warm.
Make sure you take the room on the ground floor as it's closer to the sea.

Excellent service!!!definite value for money!!!!

Title says it all..Best BB inn in una...

only thing i could propose is to make the balconies private rather than using the balcony as a passage way the existing passageway could be used.Next time planning to rent all the rooms on the top floor with a larger crowd..

Peaceful stay for families
[TA], , Australia

Being a family of five its hard to find accommodation that is good value and in a great location. We stayed two nights here in the air-conditioned family room which meant we could all be together. The room is just lovely with a generous bathroom. Outside the rooms is a terrace where you can sit in the cool breeze and watch the waves. It was just wonderful being able to swim right out in front and its only a short walk into Unawatuna. This means its a very peaceful location. The restaurant is so lovely on the terrace looking onto the sea and across to the twinkling lights of the main beach strip. Whilst our teenagers had the pizzas (which are amazing- see my review of the pizza bistro) my husband and I had the house curry special both nights. They were really delicious and well worth ordering. You get a range of curries that are superb. I must say with the combination of the hotel and the wonderful restaurant this results in an easy choice for accommodation at Unawatuna.

Excellent Place

We checked in for 4 nights at this wonderful place. Beautiful location away from the main crowded beach but at a walk-able distance. The place has its own small beach next to it. The staff is wonderful and lends a family air to the entire place. All rooms are beautiful and sea facing. We wished to stay more but our itinerary was already planned. The food is good specially the wood fired pizzas and Sri Lankan food. The view from the restaurant and sound of the waves double the taste of the food served
Will return to this place

It was wonderful to celebrate our anniversary here. We got a complimentary bottle of wine to celebrate our special day from Ameen and his sister. As always the food and friendly staff makes it worth our stay here as its not our first or the last for sure.. Thank you guys..

Value for Money
[TA], , Colombo, Sri Lanka

We spent one night in this small hotel facing the Unawatuna Bay. Though it is slightly away from the happening strech of beach at unawatuna it has a wonderful view of the ocean, which really make it worth the money.
The service & the food was not bad, but they should really improve on the breakfast menu. The 'English Breakfast' they served was nothing much.
Anyway the stay at unawatuna was very enjoyable. The owner Ameen Deane was a nice gentleman who was very helpful.

Great view with an excellent service

Located to the southern edge of Unawatuna bay, which gives this guesthouse space to standout from the rest. Has a great view of Unawatuna bay and all rooms are open to a balcony or terrace with a great sea view. Staff is super friendly and very helpful. Loved their European dishes and wood fire pizzas! There's a bar next to the restaurant which serves local and foreign spirits.

Right on the beach.

The first time you step out on the big front yard of the hotel takes your breath away. Waves softly crash right below you against the rocks, while a little to the right, an immaculate small stretch of golden sand invites you to step into the gentle natural bay. The location of the hotel is stunning: right at the end of Unawatuna beach, it feels almost private. Nothing like going to sleep listening to the sounds of the ocean. The noisier bulk of the town is a short fifteen-minute walk away on the road behind the hotel and far enough to not disturb you at night - or you can take a five minute tuktuk ride. Galle is close too: a visit to the lovely fort area is highly recommended (eat at the rooftop Mama's restaurant with the view of the lighthouse). Do the trek through the jungle to secluded jungle beach through the other side of Unawatuna beach, where the water is almost like a swimming pool. Owner Ameen and his staff were extremely courteous and helpful, and the hotel premises were immaculate. The hearty breakfast is served overlooking the lazy beach, where a few people with boats will be eager to whisk you away to a choice snorkeling spot. Free wifi to help you upload to Instagram all the amazing photos you'll be taking here.

Great location and service

Myself and friends stayed there last week and had a wonderful experience. The views and location are amazing and it's by far and away the better side of the bay to be staying. The water is lapping up to the wall of the hotel. The rooms are simple but have what you need including AC. The service and staff are what really make it the place to stay. Very welcoming and genuine people and were hugely helpful in renting scooters, getting tuk tuks etc.
