Our stay at Huma Terra was definitely the highlight of our recent trip to Sri Lanka. The accommodation is set in a beautiful and quiet area - next to rice paddy fields, tropical plants, tea plantations, soaring eagles and fireflies. The cabanas are amazing - clean, cool, private and peaceful. Being amongst the trees was such a delight. Hosted by the lovely Jean-Loup and Solange, the small touches were what really made our stay - delicious food options from Solange's recipe collection, divine eco linen, bikes to borrow and trails to explore. Thank you for having us, it was such a pleasure!

P.s. you must try Solange's orange salad dressing, it is a dream :)

Room Tip: All of the cabanas are private and delightful!

Just back from a week of yoga at Shalini Villa. It was one of the most beautiful places I have stayed. The attention to detail was fantastic as were all the staff who couldn't do enough for me to make my stay as restful as possible.
A great place in a fabulous country, walking distance to the beach. I can't wait to go back.

This place is incredible! Recently returned from hosting my yoga retreat and feel overwhelmed with how smoothly everything went. The warm and attentive staff became like family and the villa our home. As soon as you step inside the gates you sense you have entered an oasis, feeling totally looked after. Restful days by the pool in the stunning green garden, beautifully prepared outdoor dinners and peaceful nights in comfy beds all allow for an amazing holiday. Cant wait to return!

Kingfisher Hotel was just right! Perfect location on a lovely beach. The food was lovely and the beer cold! The staff were very friendly and attentive. We booked all Four double rooms for our family holiday and what a great time we all had. Would totally recommend.

Room Tip: Although the rooms on 1st and 2nd floor to the left as you look out on to the beach have slightly be...

Nature Villes a great place to stay in Unawatuna, Its right in the centre of unawatuna. Perfect location to go to the beach but you are also not right in front of the beach so its very quite and peaceful. The staff are very friendly and helpful, especially the manager..Artjom. He will give you all the information and help you need at anytime. The rooms are very nice and very comfortable. Defiantly recommend and worth the money.

Pros:
The room had a good air conditioner which you need in Unawatuna in April, it was sweltering.
Clean rooms which are made up everyday for you.
Staff was very helpful, friendly and attentive. The reception staff (Nuwani) went out of her way to help me get a document printed (thanks Nuwani!).
Nice breakfast.
lush bush surrounds with bird nests etc.
good value spa to have a full body Ayurvedic massage.

Cons;
The pool is nice and in the shade however they need to renovate, fix up the broken tiles that are super sharp which cut my sun (which has left a gash, and possibly a big scar)
Poor Wifi connection, no connection in the room (in the tower on the other side of the reception) for the last 3 days we stayed, the wifi near reception/pool area was also in and out ( a bit frustrating if you are like me who needs internet to relax)

Our family had the most incredible trip to Sri Lanka recently and stayed at a number of hotels all over the island- Thambapani was the best hotel by far! It was the perfect location with beautiful sandy beaches very near to the hotel. It had gorgeous rooms, delicious food and even a pool!
What made the trip for us though was the hotels warm and friendly staff.
Nuwani in particular was absolutely lovely and showed a real interest in our holiday. She was able to advise us on the best places to visit and went the extra mile to ensure our stay was perfect and memorable. We would come back as a family to visit her and the staff at the hotel a they had a family approach which made us feel at home. Thank you to Nuwani and the staff at Thambapani!!

I have visited Kingfisher many times (more than 5) and it is one the best locations at Unawatuna.

There are 4 rooms and the top floor rooms are having a magnificent view. The rooms are very clean and spacious. Considering the prices relative to the other properties in Unawatuna, this is pricy.

They have a good menu, but don't expect anything local.

The staff is well trained and well mannered.

I will continue to visit Kingfisher in the future.

Room Tip: Top floor rooms

I found Peacock Ayurveda Garden after extensive research on the Internet to find the ideal Ayurveda and panchkarma resort. I was not disappointed. In fact I am delighted to have chosen this place for a 15-days treatment for my wife and me. From the time I contacted Asta, the co-owner, the booking and the other administrative matters were handled most efficiently but her. The place is a gem. Tucked in lush jungle nestled in hills, the beautiful and landscaped little resort exudes an ambience of peace, quiet and nature at its most serene. The 8-bedroom facility, has a little dining room, kitchen, sitting area, verandas, and of course the swimming pool with the iconic mango tree, beside it. The tree was laden with mangoes kissing the lush green lawns. There are also a few treatment rooms, a cabana and a shed for yoga around the house. The rooms are spacious, airy and very clean. Although lack of air conditioning was a little daunting in the first two days of our stay, we soon started liking the heat and humidity. We later realized that the heat was necessary to help rid the body of toxins. The doctors, the therapists, the kitchen staff and the other support staff are the most competent, courteous, cheerful and helpful persons I have ever come across in any one place. It was impossible to fault anyone for anything whatsoever. In fact everyone literally went out of their way to meet our needs, requirements and wishes to the best of their ability. Both my wife and I are most satisfied with our stay at Peacock Garden and feel much healthier and happier. We are already looking forward to our next visit.

Me and mother visited Unawatuna in April and we have chosen the Dionis Villa because the location of the villa seemed very convenient. Indeed we found it very suitable for all our needs! Waves are pretty strong at Unawatuna beach so we walked to the stunning Jungle beach which is just about 10 minutes walk from the villa. Even though we don't drive, it was super easy to catch a tuk-tuk back when it got dark. Owners Francesca with Raju, their beautiful daughter and Lulu, the cutest dog, were very friendly and welcoming, they invited us to have a traditional breakfast during Sri Lankan New Year, it was a very nice gesture! We were staying in a two bedroom villa which was a perfect size for us, equipped with a kitchen and all necessary tools. I was a little bit sceptic about cooling fans before we arrived, but it was actually perfect! I had a great night sleep for the entire stay which was 9 nights, with fans only, open windows also give some air flow. Villa is surrounded by trees so it doesn't get extremely hot inside. Towels are provided. It was very quiet around, not much of traffic outside, just some occasional cars and bikes, well, and birds of course :) wi-fi is good. Also, I would like to say a massive "Thank you" to Raju which approached my desire to learn surfing, offered to join him to hit the waves. He offered me to borrow his board and showed me how to surf. All this was just a friendly offer, which was unexpectedly pleasant! I loved my first wave and now there is no need for me to take an instructor. I highly recommend this place and I will definitely consider it again when I come to Sri Lanka. I wish all the best to the owners and hope to meet them again!
