I arrived at Beach Grove on Sri Lanka New years eve,to be greeted by a warm smiling Asoka( owner) and a very speedy check ,Asoka took me to my room ,a wonderful room on lower floor with magical views of the various vegetation.

Asoka offered to take me too his " family Hotel ( lovely right on beach,) 1/4 mike away ,so I could get dinner ,he also invited me to join him and his family in the tradition of " lighting the candles " felt very humbled to be invited.
Room excellent with everything you need .

Breakfast, wow the best omelette in Sri Lanka . This sure is paradise with a wonderful tropical setting, many animals and birds ,plus Daxter the very friendly guard dog .

A truly blissful experience waking up to nature .A beautiful pool to fall into ,especially early or late evening .

Some guest mention wierd smell in bathroom, well in 8 dasys I only noticed it once, and this was after heavy rain lasting all through the night ,this is a common thing in Sri Lanka ,and being I was only in shower a few minutes ,it never bothered me .

If you are luckly enough to find yourself here ,you can be assured of first class service from Asoka and his smiling, always helpful team .

Thank you Asoka and team ,for a wonderful 8 days, and I shall return

Chris .

Room Tip: I would go for lower room, not pool ,wonderful verandah to sit and watch nature .

This was my first time in Sri Lanka and I was blessed to be introduced to this gorgeous island with a two week retreat at Thambapanni. It quickly became a home from home, cocooned among vibrant nature, a comfortable, clean room, daily massage and yoga....and the smiles, the warm, heart-felt happiness of all the staff, who worked tirelessly but joyfully to make everyone feel welcome. So much so, I really did not want to leave. Thank you Nuwani for your attentive, caring nature, thank you Ranjan for your intuitive, Ayurvedic wisdom, thank you to housekeeping, restaurant staff, everyone...you are all beautiful, shining stars from whom we can learn so much. I will most definitely be returning to this wonderful, very special hotel.

From the moment we arrived feeling exhausted from our long journey Thambapannis nurturing staff made us feel instantly calm and at home.
The location is beautiful and the rooms and gardens are maintained to a high standard by hard working staff who go about there work quietly with grace and efficiency.
The gardener is amazing and has such knowledge if anyone likes to take time to talk to him.
The restaurant I can say boasts talentd chefs and I personally think we enjoyed nicer evening meals there than anywhere else along the beach. As for the waiters they were charming and couldn't do enough for us .
I thoroughly recommend Ranjan for his massage treatments , he really is on top of his game .
Finally on the whole just BLISSFUL in every way . THANK YOU

Our stay at Huma Terra was definitely the highlight of our recent trip to Sri Lanka. The accommodation is set in a beautiful and quiet area - next to rice paddy fields, tropical plants, tea plantations, soaring eagles and fireflies. The cabanas are amazing - clean, cool, private and peaceful. Being amongst the trees was such a delight. Hosted by the lovely Jean-Loup and Solange, the small touches were what really made our stay - delicious food options from Solange's recipe collection, divine eco linen, bikes to borrow and trails to explore. Thank you for having us, it was such a pleasure!

P.s. you must try Solange's orange salad dressing, it is a dream :)

Room Tip: All of the cabanas are private and delightful!

Just back from a week of yoga at Shalini Villa. It was one of the most beautiful places I have stayed. The attention to detail was fantastic as were all the staff who couldn't do enough for me to make my stay as restful as possible.
A great place in a fabulous country, walking distance to the beach. I can't wait to go back.

This place is incredible! Recently returned from hosting my yoga retreat and feel overwhelmed with how smoothly everything went. The warm and attentive staff became like family and the villa our home. As soon as you step inside the gates you sense you have entered an oasis, feeling totally looked after. Restful days by the pool in the stunning green garden, beautifully prepared outdoor dinners and peaceful nights in comfy beds all allow for an amazing holiday. Cant wait to return!

Kingfisher Hotel was just right! Perfect location on a lovely beach. The food was lovely and the beer cold! The staff were very friendly and attentive. We booked all Four double rooms for our family holiday and what a great time we all had. Would totally recommend.

Room Tip: Although the rooms on 1st and 2nd floor to the left as you look out on to the beach have slightly be...

Nature Villes a great place to stay in Unawatuna, Its right in the centre of unawatuna. Perfect location to go to the beach but you are also not right in front of the beach so its very quite and peaceful. The staff are very friendly and helpful, especially the manager..Artjom. He will give you all the information and help you need at anytime. The rooms are very nice and very comfortable. Defiantly recommend and worth the money.

Pros:
The room had a good air conditioner which you need in Unawatuna in April, it was sweltering.
Clean rooms which are made up everyday for you.
Staff was very helpful, friendly and attentive. The reception staff (Nuwani) went out of her way to help me get a document printed (thanks Nuwani!).
Nice breakfast.
lush bush surrounds with bird nests etc.
good value spa to have a full body Ayurvedic massage.

Cons;
The pool is nice and in the shade however they need to renovate, fix up the broken tiles that are super sharp which cut my sun (which has left a gash, and possibly a big scar)
Poor Wifi connection, no connection in the room (in the tower on the other side of the reception) for the last 3 days we stayed, the wifi near reception/pool area was also in and out ( a bit frustrating if you are like me who needs internet to relax)

Our family had the most incredible trip to Sri Lanka recently and stayed at a number of hotels all over the island- Thambapani was the best hotel by far! It was the perfect location with beautiful sandy beaches very near to the hotel. It had gorgeous rooms, delicious food and even a pool!
What made the trip for us though was the hotels warm and friendly staff.
Nuwani in particular was absolutely lovely and showed a real interest in our holiday. She was able to advise us on the best places to visit and went the extra mile to ensure our stay was perfect and memorable. We would come back as a family to visit her and the staff at the hotel a they had a family approach which made us feel at home. Thank you to Nuwani and the staff at Thambapani!!
