I have always recommend the Dunes to everyone I know.. and this was my third stay there and I was always delighted!
The room was so airy and bright with a beautiful view of the pond, the trees and plenty of little critters.. I was very happy as always..
And Jane and Gayan are some of the nicest people i know and they always greet us like old friends :) and we end up chatting for a long time :)

We had an amazing stay at Black beauty. It was the best accomodation we had at that affordable price on the south coast of sri lanka. the place is not on the beach but 2 mn walk form it and you have the quietness of not being on it so in fact it's really an advantage.

Frankly speaking we read a lot of negative reviews and had to accept this hotel as only one night transit hotel But we really enjoyed our time there HOtel built in colonial style and situated in very nice place Very green territory and especially in early morning you can enjoy songs of hundreds ob birds The all staff was very friendly Swimming in the dark among the mysteriuos sound of the jungle in well illuminated pool left an indelible mark The only one advice We lived in deluxe room so I am not sure if standart room also so big and clean Please mind!

The rooms are very stylish and the bathroom is very functional but that's about it, considering the price you pay.

Rooms are warm and stuffy and there isn't much ventilation except for a small fan on the wall. If you think of opening windows, your room and bathroom will be invaded by mosquitos.

They claim to be eco-friendly which basically means that there is no A/C in the rooms to save the environment and their electricity bill.

If you stay in the rooms upstairs, you will be sleeping under an asbestos roof, which is unsafe and definitely not eco-friendly. Unfortunately, asbestos is used almost everywhere in Unawatuna and in Sri Lanka, but you would not expect it in such place and for that price.

Wow, lake view villa, the infinity pool, grounds and hospitality certainly exceeded our expectations in everyway!
From the moment we arrived we were absolutely enchanted by this amazing place! The views from each of the four bedrooms over the lake were stunning, the sounds of the birds and monkeys thrilling..... After a week of touring, Lakeview villa was the perfect hideaway for a week of relaxation with friends.
A very big thank you to the wonderful chef Sonali and her husband Lasthanta for providing such beautiful food.... Curry to die for!
We really didn't wish to leave and look forward to returning with our children and grandchildren.
Thank you Ken and Lesley.... Superb! xx

Nature Villa is an amazing new place in Unawatuna - close to the beach and all the buzz, but tucked away, so you can enjoy nature and peacefulness. Rooms are amazing, pool is great, breakfast is very nice. Staff is friendly and manager Artem knows everything about Sri Lanka and is always ready to go extra mile to help you with any requests.

Very nice hotel to take a couple of R&R time on the beach. Very well taken care of and the food was of good quality. Friendly service. we got a nice family room, worth the money. Swimming Pool was quite clean.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the ocean are super.

Excellent staff. Easily arranged safari for elephants. Quiet, clean and comfortable.
The pool is clean and not too cold. Other than the monkeys it was quiet empty.
Food tasty and varied, served and prepared by friendly efficient staff.
Felt very comfortable and would have stayed longer had my husband not wanted to explore the country more.
I would return to and recommend this hotel. It is not too expensive and good value for money.

We (3 couples around 35 from Spain) travelled to Sri Lanka at the end of November 2015 and booked Shalini Villa for the 5 last days of our trip. From the very first moment we contacted Alison she was more than helpful, providing all kind of details and getting all our questions answered. Even when we already were in the country we kept in touch via Whatsapp and she continued providing answers to all our questions. Having seen lots of hotels and other accommodations during our trip, getting to the Villa was like arriving in paradise.
Every detail, everything you can ask for is provided. The Villa is not as it is shown in the pictures, we think is even better!
Khaminda and Thila were waiting for us when we arrived late in the evening from Yala and showed all around the place and from that moment they were caring all the time to get all our needs covered.
The architecture and decoration of the house is superb, the garden and swimming pool are amazing and every detail is taken care of to the infinite.
For Thila, the cook, we have no words. He went shopping for us and cooked the most delicious meals we have tasted in the island. Even more, we would tell him a time for breakfast, having everything served on the table once we got up from bed.
Khaminda, the master, was all the time around (when needed) providing us with information on the village, tuk tuks etc, and taking care everything was fine.
Should we come back to Unawatuna, we will for sure go back to Shalini.
Even having rated the place as excellent, we can assure its much more than that.
Thanks Alison, Khaminda and Thila, and the kindest regards to you :)

A small piece of Sri Lankan paradise!
Homey, Relaxed and an atmosphere of serene hospitality.
Sound of the waves, back to nature experience..., not too far from Galle.
Yes..., I would come back here as often as possible.
