All hotel rooms in Sri Lanka are full, Acting Media Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena said.
Addressing the weekly Cabinet press briefing at the Government Information Department Auditorium last week, he said that all hotels are full with guests while hotels in Sigiriya and down South are full.
“This is the first time that Sri Lanka recorded the highest number of tourists arrivals after 1997,” the acting minister said.
He said requests have been made to build three hotels within the next two months. “These are hotels to be built by several companies jointly. Hotels are to be built in Kalutara and Bentota etc. There is a 21 percent increase in tourist arrivals when compared with February this year and last year,” he said.
