We stayed here for 5 nights in total. 2 nights to start off before we moved to Mirissa, but as Unawatuna is closer to Galle and the airport we decided to return for our final 3 nights of our 2 week holiday in Sri Lanka.
This place is very clean, large basic rooms with 4 poster beds to house the mozzie net with ensuite and both air con and fan. The rooms are basic however when you spend all day on the beach all we wanted is a clean room, hot water and good air con and this ticks all the boxes. Our rooms were cleaned everyday.
Location wise this is a 10 second walk and you're on the beach, many of the rooms have a lovely view of the beach however as you are set back slightly from both beach and main road it's exceptionally quiet, this would be very appealing for families.
The Guesthouse is run by a family of 4 brothers who were all very friendly & helpful, when we arrived they happily showed us two rooms to choose from which we could take our pick from. Throughout our stay they couldn't have been more helpful and attentive.
Breakfast was a Sri Lankan feast of tea, fruit, toast, eggs, any way you want. This was included in the price and we definitely didn't go hungry.
The hotel next door, the Calamander had a lovely pool and restaurant which we frequented a lot- the hotel itself was 4 times as expensive as UBB but definitely not worth the money with UBB next door.
We used the guesthouse to organise our tuk tuks into Galle Fort and also jungle beach both short journeys but well worth the trip.
If you want value for money, very close to the beach with amazing hosts this is the one.
