My boyfriend and I stayed here for one night in December 2012. We would have loved to stay longer, but they were fully booked. This was the tinyest room we had on our trip, and the only place were we did not have our own bathroom, and still we would have loved to stay - and that says a lot :)
The beach and restaurant and the whole hotel is just so beautiful. We would definately book here if we were to come back.
We really enjoyed our stay in Tangalle, the city is not that much but the beaches are great. It was one of our top places of our 3 weeks trip mainly because of the IBIB. The location of IBI is great, right on the beach where you are more than capable to swim, even when the Lonely says you cant. There are also nice beached around just 10 min by tuk tuk.
Due to our planning we stayed two days and one night only, but promised ourselves to come back for more in the future! Super wide open space right on most beautiful beach, under gently swaying coconut trees, superbly chilled atmosphere, relaxing music, wide privately staged double loungers under sun shades on the beach. Fantastic freshly cooked meals, attentive staff, fantastic friendly local owner and his smiling German wife, expecting their first baby. Absolutely immaculate clean room with freshly smelling linen and spotless large bathroom.. All simply perfect, attention to detail apparent.
Highly recommended, worth the visit.
The whole Tangalle area is an absolute must to visit while still not flooded by hordes of mass travelers...
Calm location, and rooms reasonably equipped. That is the best that can be said.
The owner was the most dishonest we found in 3 weeks in Sri Lanka. Cheated us with the price of fish (do not order any food there without having the price agreed and written!), finding excuses to not to give us wifi password (adverticed for free!) and very unflexible. One of the waiters working there was very kind though...
For that price (6500 rupies/double room per night) there are better options around.
We stayed in this guesthouse for 3 nights. The location is nice, but you can get many other alternative places for a much cheaper price. The room was OK, but certainly not great (we only experienced hot water once and there were ants everywhere in the bathroom). Owners seem friendly atr first, but then you realize they only care about money and not about their guests. The restaurant is much more expensive than other nearby places and the service is really poor. They make you wait for hours and then just tell you "relax". It was really annoying and we do not recommend this place at all.
Stayed in 2nd week of November in the first room on the upper floor of the main building. Double bed was huge and comfortable. The one snag was the one light was positioned such that reading in bed was difficult. Food was good although prices were slightly higher than places nearer town. Although swimming was not recommended except at the sea edge the range of beach furniture was exceptional and we spent days just lazing in sun and shade. Would certainly return when next touring the South Coast.
My friend and I stayed at Ibis for three nights and would have stayed longer if we could have. The rooms were clean and spacious and the food was delicious. Our days were spent walking along the beautiful beaches, reading on the sunbeds, eating fresh fruit platters in very comfy cabanas and playing table tennis - what more could you want. I would recommend this place to anyone.
We spent four nights here, one more than we had planned because it was so good. We stayed in a cabana next to the guesthouse with a great view of the beach. It was very clean and well fitted out. This is a quiet spot about two kilometers from the town and the only real drawback is that swimming isn't possible because of the rocks in the sea and the dumping surf. However there are several places you can venture into the sea and get wet. The beach is beautiful and stretches as far as the eye can see. The guesthouse is well run and the staff are very helpful. We visited the nearby children s home which the owners also run and really enjoyed the experience. The food was good with excellent breakfast options. We were there before the main season starts so it was very quiet.
We loved this guesthouse set right on a beautiful beach. We rented a beach cottage which was charming surrounded by palms. We could hear the surf all night. Bed had a mosquito net and was comfortable. There were many hammocks on the beach as well as actual beds with Canopies right on the beach. I loved these. The restaurant was excellent and we ate all our meals here. The couple who run the guesthouse were very nice and helpful. The beach is beautiful but the surf is very strong and not suitable for swimming but okay to play at the edge. We would love to visit here again and it is definitely a place to dream about.
Un coin de paradis.
Nous avons pris en chambre au fond pas directement sur la plage et c'était très bien.
L'équipe est adorable.
Pas grand monde en basse saison mais paisible et très belle vue sur la plage.
