The guesthouse Ibis has big and comfortable rooms with balcony and bathrooms with hot water, two of them with terrace and air conditioning. Ibis Guesthouse has 4 Bungalows directely on the beach, with big terrace and hot water, 6 non A/C Double rooms and 2 A/C Double or Triple rooms.
Rates for rooms and bungalows without breakfast. Small and big western breakfast, eastern breakfast, pancakes or fruitplate is possible to order seperatly.
With the amazing view from the balcony to the palm tree beach and the ocean on one side and the flower garden on the other side, you will feel as in paradise!
Relax and forget everything by lying on a sun chair or in a hammock in the shade of palm trees or palmleaf umbrellas.
Refresh yourself in the nearby natural pool along the beach, protected from the high waves, or under the beach shower.
Have fun practising water sports, like swimming, snorkelling, diving, surfing, kite surfing, and so on. Or do some beach sports , like volleyball, football, frisbee and dart.
If you are very lucky, you might see a big turtle come on the beach to lay her eggs.
Visit the busy Sunday market in Tangalle, only two kilometers from Guesthouse IBIS, or have a look into the sari shops.
Take a romantic trip by catamaran on the nearby mangrove lagoon.
In the wedding hall of Guesthouse IBIS your wedding wishes come true! Tropical flowers will be ordered as you wish! Traditional wedding dresses from Sri Lanka can be organised for you... An appointment in one of the beauty saloons can be arranged for you in time. A Buddhist monk or a Christian priest can be invited for your wedding ceremony. Western and Sri Lanka buffet will be cooked fresh and delicious on your special day. Tropical fruit cocktails or juice will be given for your celebration. Biscuits and wedding cake will be made in a traditional way of Sri Lanka.

On the beach

Perfect location right on the beach, quiet place, big room with really lagre bed, very comfortable. We were able to catch Wi-Fi signal on terrace outside of our room right above restaurant. After all guests finish their dinners (usualy between 9-10 p.m.) restaurant closes, which is good because it is quiet, but it is pity they turn Wi-Fi off too.
One afternoon waiter offered us big fresh fish for dinner, grilled with garlic sauce was excellent!
We had great time in Ibis and in Tangalle, hope to come back soon.
Totally relaxing

We were meant to stay two or three nights, but ended up staying for eight nights. Friendly owners. Very good food. Yes there are room for improvments eg deckchairs and matresses for sunbeds, but why focus on the little things that are wrong, when so much is right with this place. Service with a smile from early morning to late evening means La Santa!!

Ich habe eine sehr erholsame Woche im Guesthouse Ibis verbracht. Es stehen mehrere gepflegte Bungalows im Garten direkt am Strand. In meinem Bungalow, der einfach, aber geschmackvoll und vollständig ausgestattet war, habe ich mich sehr wohlgefühlt. WiFi gibt es im Restaurant.
Die Mitarbeiter sind sehr freundich und erfüllen auch Extrawünsche. Die sympatischen Eigentümer Angelika und Ranjid sind jederzeit ansprechbar und sehr engagiert, z.B. bei organisatorischen Fragen.
Das Eliya-Kinderheim in Tangalle, wird vom Ibis-Guesthouse unterstützt. Gäste können ihre Trinkgelder direkt spenden.
Beautiful beach front guesthouse.

The Ibis was a great place to relax after a hectic ten days in Sri Lanka. Overlooking a sandy beach and crashing surf the front of the property is dotted with sunbeds, umbrellas and hammocks The verandah contained a number of tables and most were occupied at various points during the day. Pleasantly busy, but not crowded with a mix of couples and young families. Our room on the first floor was spacious and clean and the food was good value. By comparison some of the other properties in Tangalle are scruffy and tired-looking. Typical of Sri Lanka, the service could be somewhat hit and miss, they often found it hard to multi-task and deal with more than one order at the same time. Overall though, beautiful place and excellent value for money.
Nice guesthouse on the beach

We quickly felt at home at this nice guesthouse. The service was very friendly and efficient.
The room we had in a bungalow was spacious and clean except for a dead gecko and ants, though I did not imagine a bungalow being a two-story concrete building.
The location directly on the beach is very nice, though it is dangerous to swim even for good swimmers (big rocks and powerful waves).
The food at the restaurant is high quality and very tasty.
Agreeable midprice guesthouse on quiet beach

This agreeable mid-price guesthouse is situated in a quiet location about 30 minutes walk from Tangalle, beyond the strip of budget accommodations along Medaketiya beach and close to where the long, beautiful and less developed Marakolliya beach begins. A variety of rooms, with and without AC, are available in villas and bungalows, set in a shady garden. There is wi-fi in the main building where meals are served. My room was clean and comfortable, with a good supply of hot water. The Sri Lankan food is tasty. Unlike the guesthouses closer to town, the beach road runs behind rather than in front of Ibis, allowing unimpeded access to the beach and adding considerably to the guesthouse's allure. The entire beachfront east of Tangalle shelves steeply and is pounded by waves with a strong undertow (and indeed there are some rocks in the sea in front of Ibis): this is not a suitable beach for young children. The management team is alert and responsive though, as other reviewers have noted, the Sri Lankan partner of the German owner is a somewhat mercurial presence. I enjoyed my 4-night stay at Ibis and would recommend it, particularly for travellers seeking a quieter beach destination than Mirissa or Unawatuna.
Lovely place on the beach

We only had one night booked at Ibis, but were so impressed by this relaxed place next to a beautiful uncrowded beach that we asked to stay longer. Unsurprisingly they were fully booked (this was around new year so high season), but luckily someone cancelled so we ended up staying a week. The food was great and cooked in an open kitchen, rooms were spacious and clean and overall good value for money. Angelica and Ranjit run the place efficiently and always happy to help you with anything. We would recommend this for couples and families. For single young travellers it may be a bit on the quiet side.

After being presented with slop for a meal at Guyana hotel and restaurant we went by tuk tuk to the Ibis. The meal was excellent and the welcome we received from the owners and staff very warm.We wished that we had stayed here rather than at the Guyana. It has an excellent location right on the beach and appeared perfect for a 3-4 day stay .
