Lovely place
Ste D [TA], ,

We originally planned to stay just 1 night but felt that relaxed we stayed 4 nights. Lovely family atmosphere and clean pleasant rooms. We where invited to Abey birthday party and watched Pushpa teach the violin to some children. Wish we had longer. Just a short walk to the beach, less than 5mins. Best part of the beach is around the corner to the left if you are standing looking at the water. A nice quiet little beach near to papa mango..
Kumara the younger boy cannot do enough for you.

Lovely stay! Very nice owners.

We stayed 13 night at Amara Guest and liked our stay very much. The owners (and the boys) are really helpful and happy every day. The room was good and had musquito nets. The wifi was fantastic! Would recommend this guesthouse!

A wonderful stay in Mirissa!

Pushpa and Amaranath were absolutely wonderful - their hospitality and kindness was overwhelming. The room was perfect and very reasonably priced, and then I ended up staying in their house as the room was booked for one of the nights I was there.

I had a wonderful few days in Mirissa staying there, and will certainly be returning, I highly recommend!

Wonderful stay!

The stay was just amazing! What a lovely people are Pushpa and Amaranath. Amaranath has helped us a lot in struggle with eye infection, that almost stopped our flight back to Europe. Thank you so much for this, you are so kind!
The room was superb, clean and with amazing views. Location was just perfect, view minutes from the beach and local store. Such a relaxed family. It was a great pleasure to stay with you. Thank you for everything!

Room Tip: Top room with balcony!

Good place to stay with friendly hosts
RicoSch [TA], , Munich, Germany

Good value for money, since it was off season and prices were low. The guesthouse offer some 'deluxe' and some 'basis' rooms, we stayed at 'deluxe' and it was clean and pretty new. Very basic, with a cupboard chair and fan. Host was very nice and helpful and organized whale watching for the cheapest price (2.000 incl. breakfast) we heard of on a good boat (operator: whale watching danushka). She also give good recommendations for eating

We can warmly recommend Amara Guest.

Great place!

I've been staying in Amara Guest House more than two months. The place is very nice, clean, lovely outdoors. My room had a small terrase where you can enjoy, a fridge, great wifi. The owners, Pushpa and Abi are adorable and always happy to help (advices, services, and so on). It's a great location, 5 minutes from the beach, in the center of Mirissa. Nothing to complain and every reason to recommend! I recommend this place for friends, families, backpackers, and so on. Prices are very reasonnable and vary according to the season.

Reunited with old friends
Sandie S [TA], , Droitwich, United Kingdom

I first stayed here in February 2004. Abey and Pushpa were so welcoming then, that I stayed 5 nights rather than just the one as I had originally intended. I vowed to come back, and although it took me 11 years, I managed to do so in March 2015.
It was as though I had never been away. Pushpa and Abey were just sooo friendly and welcoming.
The rooms are en-suite with fans, and are excellent value for money. Fairly basic, but the beds are comfortable, and on the whole that is the main reason to use the room as the beach is only a short walk away. The rooms themselves are quiet, although you can hear the music from the beach if someone decides to have a party, but as Mirissa is a small town I think that will apply to most properties.
Pushpa will provide meals if you ask in advance, and they are lovely. They also arranged a driver for us for a days sightseeing which was great.
They have a security man on the gate in the evenings so there is no feeling of danger.
Having re-discovered this gem of a place, we are coming again next year so we can spend longer with them.

Comfortable, quiet rooms and great stay

During our trip around Sri Lanka we passed Mirissa twice.
The second time we wanted to stay longer, at least eight nights.
We booked one night at Amara Guest, but after one night asked to stay longer; this was what we wanted as travellers. We needed a realxed place, clean, comfortable, on a good location to visit the beach and restaurants but also a place where we can relax (sometimes you just want to chill instead of 'going out' or 'going somewhere').
With the terrace, friendly owner, big room and very clean we will definatly come back!

For backpacker budget, a gret place!

We were suggested to come here by our other guesthouse in Tangalle and were pleasantly surprised. The family welcomed us with a banana and a Sri Lankan coke, and led us to our room. We had a ground floor balcony with a clothes line, excellent wifi - I could play YouTube videos, a fridge!?!?, nice bed, and one of he best mosquito nets ever. The bathroom was big, with cold water, but in Sri Lanka, cold water isn't that cold.

We also booked a whale watching tour here, but we had bad weather so it wasn't great. Our boat was on he smaller side, but it looked like everyone was getting sick. Regardless, you might want to check with them about boat size.

The family was really nice and welcoming and everyone who stayed here were also nice. We enjoyed this place a lot!

Perfect for the beach!
Kiarna [TA], , London, United Kingdom

We stayed 5 nights here over New Year, the rooms were basic, with attached bathroom. The rooms were fine for spending days at the beach and just having somewhere to sleep, it was just 5 minutes walk to Mirissa Beach. The map on and Google shows Amara Guest in the wrong location, it's just a bit north of the main road. The family who run it are really lovely, you can take breakfast at anytime, the security man was also great, was always around in the evenings and made us feel very safe.
