Drifters Hotel & Beach Restaurant is situated on the palm-fringed beachfront at Narigama, the widest and most popular stretch of beach at Hikkaduwa, with the best surf break and miles of golden beach at our doorstep.
Drifters Beachside offers 20 well-appointed rooms, all new or newly refurbished – with either sea views or overlooking the garden and swimming pool. Each room has an en suite bathroom, plus a balcony or outdoor sitting area.
Choose between a Air-Condition room with air-conditioning, or Non -Air-Condition room with fan. Our rooms can be configured to meet your needs: single, double, twin or family. All rooms are sparklingly clean and serviced daily.
Drifters Landside new building located oposite the main road and has two types of rooms. All have en-suite bathrooms with hot water. Rooms are built around courtyard garden, with verandah for sitting. There is also tables area where guests can sit together.
Standard AC - Room comes with air-conditioning and ceiling fan, and has outdoor sitting area on verandah overlooking courtyard garden (double and triple occupancy).
Standard non-AC - Room comes with ceiling fan and mosquito net, and has outdoor sitting area on verandah overlooking the courtyard garden (double and triple occupancy).
We also offer guests on a bed and breakfast package a choice of 5 breakfast menus, including western and Sri Lankan options. Breakfast we serve at beachside restaurant. Our beachfront restaurant offers the best food and best views in town.

Cute little place, beach is nice and staff is friendly. Very basic place, but has AC, so cant complain about that with the price being only $44. Would definately stay again when going through Hikka. If you want resort, look elsewhere, but if you easy, inexpensive and other nice beach places nearby, this is a good option.

Lalith, the owner/manager, was very friendly and welcoming when we arrived. It was after schools Easter vac so it was quiet there and he upgraded us to a family room with no extra charge, so that we would have more space and space to put our surfboards. Breakfasts were excellent and his staff were very well trained, better than other similar guesthouses I've stayed in in Sri Lanka. The rooms were clean, beers cold, and it was in the perfect location, right on the beach and about 50 meters from the main a frame surf spot.
Brilliant place and people...didnt want to leave!

Drifters hotel was absolutely perfect, from the minute myself & my friend were picked up at the airport by friendly drifters staff we were made feel so welcome, when we arrived at the hotel after our drive we were greeted by the owner Lalith and all his staff-there was a lovely friendly laid back feeling that made us feel very at home! The hotel is right on the beach and we spent endless afternoons chilling with beers there and at night we would enjoy the most amazing sunsets! The food there was absolutely delicious & we had some our nicest meals there...breakfast was perfect also and such good value as was included in our deal!
The owner Lalith even happily organized transport for us for our second part of the trip when we left Hikkaduwa-nothing was ever too much trouble and again he provided us with excellent value for money & an extremely friendly driver which made our onward trip extra enjoyable as he was flexible and happy to go with the flow for us!
I cannot say enough about Drifters and all the staff there...we did not want to leave but left with only good memories! So if you are thinking of staying here my advice is ..DO IT!!

We stayed at Drifters for 5 nights at the beginning of this month. We were excited after reading all of the reviews about the service and how great Lalith is. Well, we were very disappointed. The room was not that great (toilet wasn't working all the time, loads of ants in the bathroom). For $65/night there are MUCH better accomodations on the beach. Lalith, the owner, only seemed to be interested in how much money he could make off of you. He continued to tell you how he could offer you this and that, but the service at his own hotel wasn't very good. The manager was a grumpy old man who hardly ever smiled and didn't seem to want to serve you. Overall, I wouldn't stay here again and don't recommend this hotel for the price. It's just average really. I think all you are paying for is the swimming pool, which isnt that big of a deal. I've stayed in many places in Taiwan, Vietnam, Thailand, so believe me when I say I understand 3rd world countries and service.

Do Drifters Hotel trafiliśmy zupełnie przypadkiem (rekomendacja kierowcy tuk-tuka) - okazało się, że trafiliśmy w dziesiątkę.
Hotel zlokalizowany jest w niewielkiej odległości od centrum przy najpięknieszej plaży Hikkaduwy - ulubionego miejsca surfer'ów. Do plaży są dosłownie dwa kroki - wystarczy przejść przez należącą do hotelu restaurację. Zarówno sam hotel jak i restauracja są kameralne, co gwarantuje relaks.
Obsługa hotelu i restauracji jest bardzo miła (jedzenie wyśmienite - bardzo świeże).
Właściciel (Mr Lalith) pomógł nam zweryfikować nasz plan podróży po Sri Lance, w rezultacie zobaczyliśmy wiele ciekawych miejsc, także tych, których nie znajdzie się w przewodniku.
Pokoje przestronne i czyste z klimatyzacją (jest również opcja bez klimatyzacji) i lodówką.
Wi-Fi w całym hotelu, również w pokojach. Cena za pokój z klimatyzacją $50 (za 2 osoby) ze śniadaniem.
Do dyspozycji gości hotelowych jest basen - fotki poniżej mówią same za siebie = naprawdę bomba!!!
Amatorów "wildlife" czeka miła niespodzianka - 10 min spacerem od hotelu na plzaży spotkać można dzikie żółwie ;) są mega i lubią wodorosty :P
Podsumowując gorąco POLECAMY!!!

This is a clean and nice place right on the beach. The rooms are air-conditioned and the toilets are clean and tidy. The staff is very helpful. They also have a pool if the ocean is not big enough. The location is very convenient and close to local shops and bars. The restaurant is right next to the beach and you have the option of having a cool beer while watching the sun set. The food however is not fantastic. If you do try eating in, I would recommend sticking to Sri Lankan food which the chefs seem to be more comfortable with.
Overall, it was very good value for money.

kathy and jason stayed at the drifters hotel for 10 days before travelling on to thailand what a great time we had drifters staff and management we great the hotel is set on a fantastic beachwith its own swimming pool we would highly recommend a stay at the drifters hotelwe wil be back next year

We stayed at the Drifters for the whole month of Febuary this year 2013.
I would definately recommend this hotel,it is great value for money and has
the added bonus of a sparkling clean swimming pool,set in a small tropical garden.
The oner Lalith,is very friendly ,helpful and on hand to help with all your needs.
The restaurant is right on the beach and serves up delicious,well priced food,by very
friendly staff.
The rooms are cleaned daily and the whole hotel is spotlessly clean through out.
we could not have wished for anything more.
If you are a surfer,then your in the best spot,for the beach break and the main reef break.
We will definately be returning next year,to this lovely ,friendly hotel,the Drifters.

Would definitely recommend this hotel. Owner Lalith very friendly and very quick to respond to emails, arranged for car to meet us at airport - cost US$80, very friendly staff in restaurant / bar, located on best part of Hikkaduwa beach, good food at reasonable prices, nice pool, comfortable room, Bar / restaurant closes at 22.00 which was a bit early for us and our three night tour arranged by Lalith could have been better.
It doesn't worth for the money. poor service. The room is not comfortable at all. Food is not even value for the money.

The person who is there in the reception is a culprit. the close the restaurant around 9 in the night. It is very untidy place to sit and eat. I really don't recommend any tourist or locals to go for their vacation in hikkaduwa.
